At the conclusion of his general audience on June 3, Pope Francis prayed for the victims of a ship disaster on the Yangtze River in China's Hubei province.
Over 400 people lost their lives as a cruise ship overturned during a cyclone.
“I wish to express my closeness to the Chinese people in these difficult moments after the ferry disaster in the Yangtze River,” he said. “I pray for the victims, their families and for all involved in the rescue efforts.”
