May 28, 2015

Last summer President Obama issued an executive order barring discrimination against homosexuals among federal contractors. That policy will reportedly now be broadened to include groups—including religious organizations—that receive federal grants.

I would agree with mwean if I thought the govt would leave the Church alone when it broke financial ties. But the fact is it is already regulating against its teachings and it can tax/fine out of existence what it doesn't like or withhold licenses and accreditations of hospitals and schools that don't follow the totalitarian agenda. Shrink knows what I'm talking about.

This is a reminder that no one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

This administration's tactics remind me of a python slowly squeezing the life out of its victim.

First: As long as the Church receives any money from the government it will be beholden to the government. Seems like "money" is the "controller" and it would be better if the church was free of this and could speak and act more freely. Second regarding teachers it would be better if Nuns (in habits) or priest were the teachers in our schools. That was the way it was when I attended. The reasons for this are obvious. In fact Catholic hospitals were "manned" by mostly Nuns .

Tax-exempt status is next. If your bishop remains Roman Catholic, get used to having Mass in your neighbor's basement. But hey, the good news is that lots of cool bars and night-spots with church-art decor will be opening in a neighborhood near you.
