Cardinal Parolin: Irish same-sex marriage vote a ‘defeat for mankind’

The Vatican’s Secretary of State described the recent Irish referendum approving same-sex marriage as “not only a defeat for Christian principles, but a defeat for mankind.”
“I was very saddened by this result,” said Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who made his remarks at a conference on economics.
