Withdrawing from a region in northeastern Syria, forces of the Islamic State destroyed most of the churches in the villages they had occupied, according to a report from a Syrian news agency.
“They dropped the church’s crosses and crashed them all,” a member of an Assyrian militia told ARA News. “They also damaged all contents of the churches and painted anti-Christian slogans on the walls.”
