The president of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia has renewed the bishops’ condemnation of a recent court decision on physician-assisted suicide.
The nation’s high court ordered the government to issue regulations permitting terminally ill adults to choose physician-assisted suicide.
In a May 20 statement, Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga of Tunja asked the government to permit institutions to “carry out their work in full compliance their own values and ideals.”
The prelate also called upon healthcare workers to “safeguard the lives of all the sick” despite the decision.
