Archbishop Romero named co-patron of Caritas
May 19, 2015
Archbishop Óscar Romero, who will be beatified on May 23, has been named co-patron of Caritas Internationalis, the Church’s confederation of relief and development agencies.
The prelate, who joins St. Martin de Porres and Blessed Teresa of Calcutta as a co-patron, “gave his life as a martyr in defense of the dignity of poor and marginalized persons in his own country,” Caritas delegates said a statement issued at the conclusion of their recent assembly.
