Italian officials begin planning for Jubilee Year traffic improvements

Italian government officials have begun planning for the Year of Mercy, which opens on December 8.

In and around Rome, officials anticipate road repairs, the creation of new bicycle lanes on many roads, improvement of pedestrian routes, and contingency plans for traffic and medical care to accommodate the pilgrims who are expected to visit Rome during the Jubilee Year.

In order to be complete by the opening of the Jubilee Year, officials said that some repairs must be underway by June.
