Southeastern Europe’s bishops discuss pastoral care of families

April 23, 2015

In preparation for the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the family, the presidents of the bishops’ conferences of southeastern Europe met in Bucharest from April 17 to 21 to discuss challenges in the pastoral care of families.

The bishops discussed mixed marriages between Catholic and Orthodox, migration, the need for more serious marriage preparation, the importance of Sunday Mass, and the desire for closer personal contact in the pastoral care of families, according to the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE).

The list of topics discussed made no reference to the controversial proposal to admit to Holy Communion those who have remarried outside the Church.
