Archbishop Georg Gänswein has said that Pope Francis is not frightened by reports that the Islamic State has targeted him, but he is very concerned about the jihadist group's persecution of Christians.
The prefect of the pontifical household told a television interviewer that the Pontiff "has no fear for himself, but he does for the faithful, and these threats must be taken seriously." He remarked that the Pope has spoke with passion about the suffering of Christians under persecution. But the archbishop repeated: "I don't think he has any fear of the fundamentalists."
