President Obama raps 'less than loving' Christians

April 07, 2015

President Barack Obama took aim at “less-than-loving expressions by Christians” during an April 7 address to an Easter prayer breakfast at the White House.

Departing from his prepared text, the President said that “I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned.”

“But that’s a topic for another day,” he said, returning to his text rather than elaborating on his statement. He continued:

Where there is injustice we defend the oppressed. Where there is disagreement, we treat each other with compassion and respect. Where there are differences, we find strength in our common humanity, knowing that we are all children of God.

Obama - preach less. Act like a president more. Maybe there's a budget you could help balance somewhere.

The President's remarks raise some real questions about why he isn't concerned about "less than loving" remarks by people of all faiths, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and others. His remarks also raise some real questions about the "less than loving" remarks by the White House staff in the give and take of Washington politics. He sets the tone for national discourse, and has been "tried and found wanting" as an old country judge used to say.

At least he is consistent in finding a way to put down Christians. I am happy he is more concerned about less than loving expressions by Christians than the actual murder of many Christians by islamic terrorists. As long as he does not make any more inaccurate coments about Crusades or the Inquisition.

Takes one to know one. Look at the church he attended for many years. An angry pastor with an angry congregation. He fully knows what it means to be an unloving Christian because he's lived it. He couldn't even be bothered to recognize the loss of his fellow Kenyans at this breakfast-to recognize the deaths of his own countrymen during Holy Week murdered for being Christian. Oh, but that's a discussion for another time isn't it?

What about less-than-loving LGBT activists who call religious people "hateful bigots"? Or less-than-loving global warming enthusiasts who call others "climate change deniers"? I could go on. The president should criticize personal attacks and stereotyping wherever it is a dodge to avoid debating facts.

Well, I suppose we can all agree with him about that, as long as what he means by it is left out of it.

It's so strange that Mr. Obama and I seem to get "concerned" about totally opposite things.

His prepared text was more egregious than his "offhand comment". He, his administration, his party, and his supporters have done nothing of the kind. I know that is a very unchristian thing to say. But, that does not make it untrue.

Consider the source: a man whose principal accomplishment as a state senator was crafting a bill mandating that doctors "permit" neonate victims of botched abortions to die from suffocation.
