President Obama issues statements for Passover, Easter

April 06, 2015

President Barack Obama has issued statements on Passover and Easter.

“Michelle and I join our fellow Christians around the world in observing Good Friday and celebrating Easter this weekend,” he said in his Easter statement, which was dated April 3. “With humility and awe, we give thanks for the extraordinary sacrifice that Jesus made for our salvation.”

“We rejoice in the triumph of the Resurrection. And we renew our commitment to live as He commanded – to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves,” he added. “I look forward to continuing our celebration on Tuesday when I host our annual Easter prayer breakfast as we remember the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives, stand with those around the world who are persecuted for their faith, and pray for peace, justice and freedom for all people.”

Note that the releases were on Friday, April 3rd; Friday is the traditional day when the handlers release any news that might be controversial, knowing that most major media outlets won't pick it up (I didn't see it in the Washington Post, not that I would expect to). Note that the Easter breakfast is on Tuesday, but, hey, it's an improvement over previous years when the chief cynic wouldn't hold any kind of prayer-type breakfast . Let's pray that he's getting the message, unlikely as that is.
