Colombian priest killed in robbery

March 23, 2015

A Catholic priest was killed in a robbery in Colombia on March 21, the Fides news service reports.

Father Fernando Meza Luna was shot and gravely wounded during an attempted robbery in the city of Sincelejo. He was taken to a medical clinic, but died from his wound.

While mourning their pastor, parishioners in Sincelejo also demanded better police protection, noting the large number of violent crimes in the city. The deceased priest had been the victim of another robbery just two months earlier.
