Cardinal John Onaiyekan of Abuja, Nigeria has said that he does not have a preference between the two major parties contending legislative elections scheduled for March 28, but “there has to be change” in the country’s direction.
“I do not care who wins,” the cardinal said, “but whoever wins, there has to be change, because people are not happy with what is happening; people are hungry, people are suffering.”
The Nigerian election date had been postponed because of the disruptions caused by the Boko Haram terrorist campaign in northern Nigeria. Cardinal Onaiyekan has asked his people to pray for peaceful elections.
