New deputy director appointed at Vatican bank
March 06, 2015
The Vatican bank has announced the appointment of a new deputy director.
Gianfranco Mammi has been named the deputy director of the Institute for Religious Works (IOR). Having worked with the Vatican institution for 23 years, he has established a special expertise in working with ecclesiastical clients.
Mammi’s appointment is a step toward a normal working management at the Vatican bank, which is emerging from a period of turmoil. The post of deputy director has been vacant for more than a year, after the previous occupant, Massimo Tulli, stepped down under pressure, being investigated for financial irregularties.
