Number of Catholic healthcare, social-assistance institutions tops 115,000

There are now 115,352 Catholic healthcare and social assistance institutions worldwide, according to Fides, the news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
These institutions include 5,167 hospitals, 17,322 dispensaries, 648 leprosaria, 15,699 homes for the elderly and disabled, 10,124 orphanages, and numerous centers for child care, marriage counseling, and rehabilitation.
