Pope Francis nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Pope Francis has been nominated for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Pontiff is among many nominees for the prize, the Reuters news service reports. The winner will be announced in October.

Among the other nominees are Edward Snowden, who exposed the extent of US government surveillance of civilians; Mussie Zerai, an Eritrean priest who has worked with African migrants in Italy; and Novaya Gazeta, a Russian newspaper that has pursued reports of corruption in the Putin government.
