Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has sent a message on behalf of Pope Francis to the tens of thousands of young people who are gathering in Prague for a meeting sponsored by Taizé, the ecumenical monastic community.
“At a time when the Czech Republic is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its return to democracy, do not forget in your prayer the martyrs and confessors of the faith, men and women of good will who, by the generous gift of themselves and sometimes at the cost of great suffering, allowed their country to rediscover the road to freedom,” the message stated.
“The Pope has confidence in your imagination and creativity so that the joy of the Gospel may be proclaimed and heard today in your different countries,” Cardinal Parolin continued. “From the bottom of his heart the Holy Father gives you his blessing.”
