Myanmar: Church emerging from decades of repression
December 26, 2014
Civilian rule in Myanmar (Burma) has allowed the Church to emerge from the shadows, according to an Agence France-Presse report.
The year 2014 saw the first beatification of a Burmese martyr and the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the area’s evangelization.
The Southeast Asian nation of 51.4 million is 89% Buddhist, 4% Muslim, 3% Protestant, and 1% Catholic.
