Charity requires preaching Gospel, not just material help, says head of papal charity

The highest manifestation of Christian charity is not only to provide material help but to preach the Gospel message, the head of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum told a conference in Rome.

Cardinal Robert Sarah said that "doing charity is not only giving food, giving material things, but giving God too. Because the main lack of man is not having God.” He argued that the greatest need of mankind is to recognize the existence and love of God.
