Archbishop Kondrusiewicz of Belarus sees flaws in Synod's interim report

October 17, 2014

“The modern world is playing its music but we can’t dance to it,” Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz of Minsk, Belarus, told Catholic World Report.

Interviewed about the work of the Synod of Bishops, Archbishop Kondrusiewicz said that he saw three significant problems with the interim report presented earlier this week: First, the text spoke about cooperation with non-Christian faiths, but said little about ecumenical work with other Christians, particularly the Orthodox. Second, the document did not call for government policies that would be more helpful to families. Third, he said: “We cannot be in favor of non-sacramental marriage or homosexual unions, much less can we be open to the adoption of children by people of the same sex.”
