Sri Lankan president meets with Pontiff

Pope Francis met on October 3 with President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka.

In a brief statement released after the meeting, the Vatican said that the conversation had centered on the prospects for social and economic improvement in Sri Lanka and on plans for the Pope’s upcoming visit to the country.
