Coptic Orthodox and Catholic prelates decried the targeted kidnapping of Christians in Egypt following the murder of a dentist who had been abducted.
Bishop Kyrillos Kamal William Samaan, the Coptic Catholic bishop of Assiut, told the Fides news agency that “the phenomenon continues and there are no signs of improvement. Police operations are episodic and ineffective, they are unable to solve the problem.”
