Russian Orthodox leader speaks of ‘organic unity’ of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus

September 12, 2014

Speaking at the blessing of a cathedral’s foundation stone, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized the “organic unity” of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Referring to the medieval state of Kievan Rus’, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, said that “today, amid attempts to destroy the spiritual-historical bonds between people, we are building a church in Vladimir …to emphasize yet again the organic unity and spiritual connection between Kiev, Vladimir, and Moscow, and the invincible and overwhelming unity of the Holy Rus’.”

“We do remember the blessed time, when we lived as one family, from the northern to southern seas, from the western to eastern borders, and when the same saints, traditions and system of values filled our hearts,” added the patriarch, according to an Interfax news agency report.

Those "wondrous days" when Russian czars squashed the Ukrainian language and traditions, and imprisoned or executed any freedom fighters, are long gone, as are those "days of joy" when the Russian Communists killed and sent Ukrainian Catholic priests and bishops to Siberia, while the Russian Orthodox Church served to invest the Regime with a thin veil of Christian dignity, all while benefiting from the stolen churches and properties the Communists gave their friends! Boy, we miss those days!
