Indian government: Jesuit kidnapped in Afghanistan is safe

A leading Indian government official said that an Indian Jesuit abducted in Afghanistan in June is safe, the Indo-Asian News Service reported.
“Alexis Prem Kumar is safe, and efforts are on to get him released,” said Sushma Swaraj, India’s external affairs minister.
Father Kumar is the director of Jesuit Refugee Service operations in Afghanistan and was kidnapped as he traveled to a school that serves refugees.
