Malta: bishop proposes every parish adopt a refugee family from Iraq, Syria

September 09, 2014

A Catholic bishop in Malta has suggested that each parish in his diocese should adopt a family of Christian refugees from persecution in the Middle East.

"How can we stay passive when countless numbers of Christian brothers who refuse to renounce their faith are being violated and killed?" asked Bishop Mario Grech of Gozo. "If you welcome these people, we are helping them in a release from death."

Bishop Grech said that he plans to inform the government of Malta that his diocese is prepared to move forward with a plan to take in refugee families.

Excellent idea! Every parish in the U.S. should do this since U.S. foreign policies in the Middle East are responsible for this crisis.
