Italian bishop: Muslim immigrants should denounce terror or leave

September 08, 2014

An Italian bishops has issued a call for Muslims living in Europe to denounce terrorism and persecution, or else leave Europe.

Bishop Tommaso Ghirelli of Imola, writing in his diocesan newspaper, emphasized the gravity of the struggle against militant Islamic fundamentalism. But he said that the people of Europe should not turn against all foreigners.

Rather we are asking the Muslims who live among us to show that they are honorable men, and publicly condemn these persecutions and acts of cruelty. Otherwise they ought to have the courage to leave our country, because nobody wants to have enemies in their own home.

Bishop Ghirelli concluded his appeal with an appeal for the people of Europe to show a commitment to realism, going beyond "do-goodism or intolerance."

Indeed, the only ones 'struggling against radical muslims' are we, non-muslims. Where's the outrage from the so-called non-radical Muslims? Imagine the condemnation that would pour forth from conventional christians if a fringe element among us resorted to systematic and unspeakable violence against a percieved enemy. It would be deafening. Could it be that this apparent indifference is actual smug but silent approval? Read the Koran...maybe there are fewer non-radicals than we think.

Muslims are allowed to lie, cheat, steal, and kill non-Muslims. Their statements to non-Muslims are not morally binding.

I still wonder how many imans have denounced the terror of ISIS, especially the ones who stood with the pope in the Vatican Gardens?

A brave bishop indeed! Let's hope the Vatican doesn't get the bad idea to somehow reprimand him for his straightforward talk, all in the name of the chimerical dialogue with Islam it incongruously pursues lately.
