Day of prayer declared for upcoming synod

September 08, 2014

The Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops has designated September 28 as a special day of prayer for the upcoming 3rd Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which is devoted to the pastoral challenges to the family in the context of evangelization.

In addition, the Secretariat has called upon dioceses, parishes, religious institutes, movements, and associations to pray for the synod before and during the days of the synod, which will take place October 5-19. The Secretariat asked individuals and families to pray for the synod and recommended the recitation of the Rosary.

Daily prayer for the synod will take place before the Marian icon of Salus Populi Romani in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome.
