The Vatican’s newly created Council of the Economy met in Rome on September 4, to discuss the proposed statutes for the Secretariat for the Economy.
Led by Cardinal Reinhard Marx, the president of the Council, the group also spoke about the new responsibilities that Pope Francis has given to the Secretariat for the Economy, and the budget procedures being developed under the direction of Cardinal George Pell. The Council has scheduled its next meetings for early December and early February of next year. At these meetings the Council will seek to conclude work on the group’s statutes and on the structure of the Secretariat of the Economy.
