Pope resumes daily Mass at Santa Marta

September 02, 2014

Following a two-month hiatus, Pope Francis has resumed his practice of preaching at weekday Masses for different invited groups at Domus Sanctae Marthae.

On September 1, he preached on the word of God, concluding:

It would do us good today, during the day, to ask ourselves: How do I receive the Word of God? As something that interests me? Ah, the priest preached this today ... it was so interesting! What a wise man, this priest!

Or do I receive it simply because it is the living Jesus, His Word? And am I capable-- pay attention to this question!-- am I capable of buying a small Gospel -- cheap, eh?-- buying a small Gospel and carrying it in my pocket, in my bag and picking it up when I can, during the day, to read a passage, to find Jesus there? These two questions will do us good. May the Lord will help us.
