Victory for Baptist college against HHS mandate
August 19, 2014
A federal district court judge has ruled that a Baptist college in Louisiana is exempt from the mandate to provide its employees to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives that also have an abortifacient effect.
“For over 100 years Louisiana College has stood on a foundation based on biblical principles,” said Joe Aguillard, who became the college’s president emeritus on August 1. “One of those is life. ... We couldn’t stand for life and provide for life-ending procedures.”
