Papal condolences following Iranian plane crash

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has conveyed Pope Francis’s condolences following an airplane plane crash in Iran.

“His Holiness Pope Francis was deeply saddened by the tragic air accident in Tehran, and he asks you to convey his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” Cardinal Parolin said in a telegram to the president of the Episcopal Conference of Iran. “Praying for the eternal repose of the dead, His Holiness invokes upon all who mourn their loss the divine blessings of strength, consolation, and peace.”
