Pope Francis has sent a videomessage to Koreans as his August 13-18 apostolic journey to the East Asian nation approaches.
Referring to martyrs whom he will beatify there, the Pope said that “he light of the risen Christ shines like a mirror on the testimony of Paul Yun Ji-chung and 123 companions.”
“Young people are bearers of hope and energy for the future; but they are also the victims of the moral and spiritual crisis of our time,” he continued. “For this reason, I would like to announce to them and to all the only name in which we are able to be saved: Jesus, the Lord.”
The Pope added that the Church is a “large family” in which it is important for youth to encounter elderly persons who have kept the faith.
