Sudan: no new churches allowed

The government of Sudan will not permit the construction of new Christian churches, the Fides news service reports.
Government minister Shalil Abdallah told el Jareeda daily that the number of churches in Sudan is already sufficient to serve the country's Christian population. He pointed out that the proportion of Christians in Sudan dipped sharply when South Sudan, a largely Christian society, became independent.
