Sudanese Christian woman re-arrested after court-ordered release

June 24, 2014

A Sudanese Christian woman who was freed yesterday when a court overturned her conviction for apostasy has been arrested once again.

Miriam Ibrahim, who had faced a death sentence for refusing to renounce her faith, was taken into custody at the airport in Khartoum as she tried to leave the country with her family.

Sudanese authorities have not yet explained the new arrest.
