Kenyan cardinal warns against tribalism

June 19, 2014

During a recent talk, Kenya’s leading prelate warned against the dangers to unity posed by tribalism.

“It should not be an issue of where we come from but should be of who we are,” said Cardinal John Njue of Nairobi, according to a report from the Catholic Information Service of Africa.

“There is no community that can be self-sufficient,” he added. “We should focus on our own identities, for each person is created in the image of God and we should live the identity the best way possible. This will create an environment to live as brothers and sisters together.”
