Vatican warning: firms making false offers of jobs in Vatican City

May 08, 2014

The Vatican has issued a warning that some Italian firms are making false offers for employment in the Vatican city-state.

An official communiqué released on May 8 advising potential job-seekers that “all offers of employment of this type be regarded with suspicion.” The Vatican does not use third-party agencies for hiring, the communiqué said, and in any case “new appointments are not expected at this time.”

“It is sadly evident that there are those who take advantage of the good faith of many young people and their families, especially in this period of crisis,” the Vatican observed. The communiqué recommended that anyone receiving such a job offer should be in touch with the Vatican gendarmerie and the Italian police.
