Helena, Montana diocese to enter bankruptcy

The Diocese of Helena, Montana, will file for bankruptcy, after reaching settlements in two lawsuits brought by sex-abuse victims.

The Helena diocese will be the 11th American diocese to seek bankruptcy protection in the wake of the sex-abuse scandal. The diocese will ask a bankruptcy court to supervise the distribution of $15 million to the abuse victims.
