Caritas to launch anti-hunger prayer campaign

December 03, 2013

Caritas Internationalis, the Church’s confederation of relief and development agencies, has announced that it will launch “One Human Family, Food for All,” a campaign to end hunger by 2025.

A “wave of prayer” will begin on December 10 in Samoa, and Caritas agencies in 164 nations will take part. A video from Pope Francis will be released at that time.

Caritas said in a statement that “governments guaranteeing the right to food in their national laws is an essential step in guaranteeing food for all” and that during the campaign, affiliated organizations will adopt “national goals aimed at improving food security. There will also be an emphasis on personal change regarding food waste and attitudes towards how and what we eat.”
