Cardinal urges Hondurans to ignore fears, cast ballots
November 13, 2013
Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa has urged Honduran voters to overcome their fears and cast ballots in the November 24 presidential election, L’Osservatore Romano reported.
Honduras has the highest murder rate of any nation in the world.
“We should not be afraid, because God is with us,” the prelate preached in his November 12 homily. “There are many people who say, ‘Do not leave the house on election day.’ But why should we be afraid?”
