Pakistan: Christians forced to leave Karachi neighborhood

November 11, 2013

Residents of a largely Christian neighborhood in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, have been driven out of their homes, according to The Express Tribune, a Pakistani newspaper affiliated with The New York Times.

Gang activity, which has taken place with the knowledge of police and government officials, was responsible for the action, the newspaper reported.

“A lot of the families have left the compound since 2008, after their daughters were kidnapped and raped,” said one member of the community.
