Priest murdered in Panama

November 04, 2013

A Spanish priest who had ministered in Panama for two decades was murdered in front of a bishop’s residence, according to multiple media reports.

Father Aníbal Gómez, 67, was “found bound with plastic ties, beaten and stabbed,” Panama Digest reported. The murder took place in Colón, a city of 200,000.

“It happened in broad daylight,” said Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, as quoted by the Fides news agency. “We all have to reflect, and we must all work together to stop the violence and murders that are taking place.”
