Panama's president meets with Pope

October 28, 2013

Pope Francis met on October 26 with Panama’s President Alberto Martinelli Berrocal.

A brief Vatican statement released after the meeting indicated that the conversation had centered on “various themes relevant to the current situation of the country, especially in relation to the social policies initiated by the government, and development projects for the nation.” The Pope and the Panamanian leader also discussed Church-state relations and Central American affairs.
