Mexico: police officer murdered in front of bishop’s residence
October 21, 2013
A police officer was gunned down in a drive-by shooting outside the residence of Bishop José Isidro Guerrero Macías of Mexicali on October 17.
Mexican news radio reported that the police officer had been assigned to guard the bishop since 2009. The Fides news agency, however, reported that the officer “was not directly responsible for the bishop’s security, but he was still assigned to that area due to the many complaints of theft and armed attacks.”
