Vatican TV center celebrates 30 years

October 18, 2013

Pope Francis has written a message of support for the Vatican Television Center (CTV), which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

In his message to Msgr. Dario Edoardo Vigano, the CTV director, the Pope said that the television station “contributes to bringing the Church closer to the world, bridging distances, taking the word of God to millions of Catholics, even to places where often professing one's faith is a courageous choice.” He thanked the broadcaster for making it possible for the Pope to reach people in far-distant countries with his public messages.

Encouraging the continued presence of the Vatican in the world of media, the Pope said of CTV, “your approach must be not worldly, but ecclesial.”
