Action urged on conscience-protection legislation

September 27, 2013

The National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (NCHLA), which works closely with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on abortion-related legislation, is asking pro-life Americans to urge members of Congress to pass the Health Care Conscience Rights Act.

“The Obama Administration’s contraceptive/abortifacient/sterilization mandate will begin to be enforced against nonprofit religious schools, charities and health care providers on January 1, 2014,” an NCHLA action alert states. “Congress must decide whether to address this problem before that deadline.”

“Members of Congress should be urged to work for approval of the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (H.R. 940. S. 1204) as part of 'must-pass' bills they are now considering: a Continuing Resolution, or CR, to keep the government funded on a temporary basis, and a bill to raise the federal debt ceiling,” the alert continued. “Now is the time to contact your Members of Congress!”
