September 13, 2013

A Catholic priest was badly burned in an acid attack in Zanzibar on September 13.

Father Joseph Mwang’amba was hospitalized with burns on his face and upper body after acid was tossed at his face by unidentified assailants. He is the third Christian leader to be the victim of an acid attack this year in Zanzibar, a predominantly Muslim province of Tanzania were Islamic militants have been pushing for autonomous rule.
