Nuncio: Syrians want international political intervention

August 22, 2013

Following reports of chemical weapon use in Syria’s internal conflict, the apostolic nuncio said that Syrians are pleading for the international community to intervene.

“These pictures circulating on the Internet and on television are really a shock to the international community,” Archbishop Mario Zenari told Vatican Radio. “Here the people are fed up now, and I think that truly they are raising cries of alarm to the international community to say, ‘Help us to stop this war immediately! We are tired of this war, we cannot [endure it] anymore! You cannot go on this way.’”

“I believe that this cry goes up from the Syrians, who advocate a greater effort from the international community to immediately find a political solution to this crisis,” he added.

Now it seems that the sarin gas came from the insurgents. What a mess that the US needs to stay out of militarily (except to protect Christians, despite Obama).
