5 years after mass violence, Orissa Christians live in fear
August 21, 2013
Police have increased their presence in the Kandhamal district as the fifth anniversary of a brutal anti-Christian persecution approaches.
The violence, which left 100 dead and 50,000 homeless, took place in Orissa, an eastern Indian state that has since been renamed Odisha.
“We are living in fear all the time,” a Christian youth leader told the Asian Catholic news agency UCA News. “The Hindu fundamentalists want to kill us. They threaten us day and night.”
