Vatican representative calls for religious freedom in Vietnam

The Vatican’s non-resident representative in Vietnam called for “the promotion of true freedom of religion and conscience” during a 3-day visit there, the AsiaNews service reports.

Archbishop Leopold Girelli spoke to an estimated 5,000 Catholics gathered in Vinh Long. He praised the loyalty of the faithful in Vietnam, often demonstrated during times of persecution.
