British bank to close accounts of embassies, nunciature

England’s largest bank, HSBC, has announced that it is closing the accounts of 40 foreign embassies and consulates, including the Vatican’s apostolic nuncio.
HSBC, which has faced stiff fines for failing to meet new standards to combat money-laundering, said that the embassies’ accounts are a money-laundering risk.
